- Counseling has been an important
part of Vashon Youth & Family Services since its very beginning,
more than 25 years ago. Individual counseling, couple's counseling,
family counseling, and therapeutic groups are all part of the array
of counseling services we provide.
Vashon Youth & Family Services'
counseling staff bring varied experiences and styles to the client-therapist
relationship in a confidential setting. Skilled counselors
provide help for youth, children, families, couples, and individuals
for problems they cannot solve on their own. Help is available for
family conflict, divorce, and grief and loss issues, as well as
for most other therapeutic matters.
Our counseling staff will be offering a number of groups on topics
such as Dream Analysis, Women's Issue, and Men's Issues. If you
are interested in being part of a therapy group in one of these
areas, please call VYFS at 463-5511 to reserve a spot on the waiting
list. Groups will begin when enough particpants have signed up,
typically six to twelve individuals, depending on the group. If
you are interested in a group that is not listed, please call Clinical
Supervisor Jeffrey Zheutlin, or email him at jzheutlin@vyfs.org.
- Vashon Youth & Family Services counseling
staff are pleased to have the services of Dr Melanie J Brace, a
psychiatrist in private practice specializing in child and adolescent
psychiatry. Dr Brace works with Vashon Youth & Family Services'
counseling staff every month, as an integral part of counseling
staff meetings. She provides valuable advice and support to our
therapists.
