Vashon Island Prevention Intervention Team (VIPIT)

VIPIT Mission

• To assemble a core group of interested agencies and individuals interested in promoting healthy development of students and their families.
• To review the overall opportunities and needs of Island students and their families & develop strategies to respond to these needs.
• To maximize agency & community resources to respond to these needs.
• To communicate about individual projects and grants in order to facilitate collaboration and efficiency.

VIPIT Goals

• Increase opportunities for parents to become informed, educated "first teachers" of their children
• Increase student's commitment to school
• Increase community awareness of challenges to the healthy development of island children and youth
