With so many challenges facing our community, Vashon Youth & Family Services (VYFS) is here to ensure that every Islander has access to support, connection, and care — especially those who face the greatest barriers.
Who We Are
Vashon Youth and Family Services
fosters a thriving community of
emotionally healthy and resilient children, youth, adults, and families.
We prioritize serving Vashon’s most vulnerable populations and communities, particularly those who face systemic barriers to accessing services and/or belong to groups historically excluded from resources, recovery and power.
Our Programs
Our Behavioral Health program offers compassionate, comprehensive care for adults, adolescents, children and families. We offer counseling, substance use treatment, and crisis support to build healthy coping skills, stability and resilience. VYFS partners with the Vashon Island School District to provide counseling and intensive case management at all three schools.
Vashon Kids provides high-quality childcare that supports each child’s physical, social, intellectual, and emotional growth. Our experienced staff—bringing over 80 years of combined expertise—tailor care to every child’s age and needs. With engaging activities in art, science, theatre, literacy, and outdoor play, we celebrate individuality and foster healthy play and peaceful conflict resolution. Scholarships and subsidies are available.
Family Place offers free, bilingual early childhood parenting support from pregnancy through kindergarten. Our programs include Parents as Teachers home visits, developmental screenings, play & learn groups, classes, family dinners, and special events—each designed to empower parents and strengthen resilience along the parenting journey.
Our Community Outreach program connects youth, parents, and individuals with education, and local events that foster connection and growth. We build confidence, support well-being, and ensure everyone has access to the care and community they need.
Oasis bilingual navigators help Vashon residents access essential resources on and off the island, including medical care, prescriptions, ferry vouchers, translation support, rental assistance, and fresh food through local farm stand credits. Through strong partnerships with community and government agencies, we streamline services and reduce barriers to support.
